shitty bench

Ready to get back in the gym today. Instead of dropping my bench I think I'm gonna put priority on it. I haven't decided which meet, but I'm hoping to compete again in June, and finally break that 400 mark on bench. No more shitty bench!

Meet write up

The meet was the APA Northwest spring championships, while a mouth full it was a fun meet. I was originally training, and anticipating a huge field of 275 pound lifters a lot of my competitors dropped out. I weighed in Friday after falling down a flight of stairs, lol, weight was 272. After that I spent the rest of the day eating, and drinking gatorade, by the time I went to bed I was 280. Woke up next morning, and got ready to go, and made sure not to fall down the stairs again, lol. Once we arrived I met some people I previously only knew through Facebook, and went over the rules briefing with the head judge. Warm-ups were all going well until the last warm-up.... I needed to take around 500 for my last warm-up, and saw the 5th weight on the bar said 45, though it ended up being 45 kilos, so 100 pounds. I unracked it, and walked it back already thinking wow this feels heavy, and I went down, and started going up, and stopped. Missing an easy warm-up attempt really messed with my head when I went up for my opening squat of 568, but I nailed it easy. Still trepidatious due to my now 6 inch bruise on my hip that was very tender, and starting to hurt I went out for my second attempt at 601 Depth was great, and it went up with only a little struggle (pr). Set my third for 612, but decided to pass on that attempt instead to save my hip, and I'm glad I did. On to bench this time I had a great warm up though I was ready to take a nap since my energy drink had worn off. First attempt 341 fast, and easy. Second was 375 (pr), third attempt was 385, and went halfway, and it stopped, so no lift. On to deadlifts, my favorite part of the day. After my second speed stack I started warming up, and they were lightning fast all the way up to 550. First attempt was 638, and it was a little harder than expected, but went up. Next attempt 666 (pr), that felt really good, so I picked 700 for my third which would have been a huge pr. I pulled it as hard as I could all the way up to mid thigh, and realized it wasn't happening with good form, so at this point I decided to hitch the bar just so I could know I can pull 700, and got about 2-3 inches short of lockout ,but it wasn't happening, and I dropped it, and started dripping some blood. Overall second place in the 275 open raw class (pro) with a 1642 total. My goal for this meet was a 1630 total, so I more than covered that. This is officially over a 200 pound increase on my total in 1 year!

weigh ins

The universe is trying to scare me away from this meet, but I won't quit. Still fighting some cold, and this morning I fell down my stairs with my daughter in her carseat, and had to roll myself to catch her seat. She didn't even notice, but I'm pretty sore. After all that I still got to Portland on time for weigh in, and made weight easy at 272.blah blah. Now its time to hydrate, and over eat. That 1630 total is gonna be mine easy.

Putting myself out there

My name is Bob Moyer, I am a 275 pound raw powerlifter (not really raw though since I wear a belt, knee wraps, and a beard, lol) out of Kelso Washington. Currently my best total is 1581 which was a 565 squat, 365 bench, and a 650 deadlift. I have a few training logs on forums out there, but I figured I would make my own blog. Maybe one day I'll have enough fans to justify my own blog, but for now this will serve as a training log, and a place to spew out whatever random shit I want to say, or post. I hope people subscribe, and enjoy my training.
